How does the worship service look like?
We meet to praise God, pray to Him and study the Bible.
We sing songs celebrating God and all that He has done.
We pray on each other’s behalf and share our blessings.
And we study what the Bible tells us about God, who He is and how we should live.
In the interim, we have been blessed with excellent visiting preachers each Sunday.
We also enjoy a warm atmosphere of people from various countries and backgrounds.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God Ephesians 2:8
Who can come to this church?
We welcome people of all racial, ethnic, national, and religious background.
We also welcome agnostics, unbelievers, seekers, the curious, sinners,
doubters, strugglers, the spiritually wounded, the lonely, the broken
hearted, the disillusioned. Dress is informal. Come as you are.
When you come, bring a friend with you. You will be glad you
came. And when you leave, we pray, you’ll go with the peace, love
and joy of Jesus.
What do we believe? The Bible is the divinely inspired
Word of God, written by men who were moved by the Holy Spirit as they
wrote. The Bible is true and reliable as a guide to faith in Jesus
Christ and as a guide to living for God. There is one and only one
true God. The eternal God reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. He is an intelligent and personal God. He is the creator.
That man was created by the special act of God, in His image. By his
free choice man sinned against God and needs a Savior. That salvation
involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to
all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Baptism is the immersion
of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
It is an act of obedience, symbolizing the believer's death to sin
and resurrection to new life in Christ. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic
act whereby members of the Church, through partaking of the bread
and the grape juice, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate
His second coming. This is an ordinance of the Church The Church is
a local body of baptized believers and is also spoken of in the Bible
as all of the redeemed of all ages. Does this church cooperate with
other churches? We want to cooperate with churches everywhere that
proclaim the message that Jesus is Savior and Lord. We are a member
of the International Baptist Convention (Europe), organization of
English language Baptist churches. The Church is affiliated with the
Southern Baptist Convention (USA). We work in partnership with The
Czech Baptist Union as well as the First Baptist Church Czech congregation
in whose building we meet. We hope to actively participate with them
in evangelism and mission.
Our mission statement
Who We Are (Identity Statement) The International Baptist Church of Prague (IBCP)
is an international multicultural congregation seeking to be faithful
disciples of Jesus Christ. We affirm the central truth of the Christian
faith and seek to live those out in an intentional nurturing community,
guided and built up by the scriptures and prayer. In our worship and
in our daily lives we affirm that all believers, male and female,
young and old, lay and ordained, are gifted by the Holy Spirit. We
practice the baptism of believers and celebrate the Lord’s Supper
at least every other month. We are affiliated with the Bratrská jednota
baptistu* and are committed to co-operating with other Christians
in ecumenical service and worship.
Why We Are Here Our mission is
to glorify God by ministering among citizens and expatriates in and
beyond Prague through corporate worship, personal witness and holistic
mission so that together we may be disciples of Jesus Christ growing
in faith and service.
How One Can Join Anyone can apply to join the
church who accepts these basic statements of the church’s identity
and mission and who affirms the church covenant. Membership is open
to any person publicly professing his/her faith in Jesus Christ as
Lord and Savior, followed by immersion baptism. A person may be received
into membership by baptism, by an officially written transfer of membership
from another Christian church, or by an affirmation of faith. Anyone
who wishes to maintain his/her affiliation with another denomination
or church, but agrees with the church statement of faith, and wants
to fellowship and serve in the IBCP while living here in Prague, is
welcomed to join the church as an associate member.
Covenant Having
given ourselves to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, we covenant together
to actively support and participate in the International Baptist
Church of Prague,
to help one another identify and use our spiritual gifts in ministry,
to worship God who has created us,
to walk in the ways of Christ who has redeemed us,
and to witness and serve in word and deed through the Holy Spirit who empowers us, so that
God may be glorified in us and God’s reign on earth may be extended through us.
